Ambassadors Lab, the studio for innovation and creative technology within Ambassadors, is looking for a full-time, intermediate Software Engineer based in Amsterdam.

About the role

Ambassadors Lab is a team of technology enthusiasts working on new products and workflows that change how the creative advertising industry works.

Our key software product – and what you’ll be developing – is Cube, a platform that offers digital asset management, creative collaboration, and creative automation tools used by leading brands and agencies. Using Python and Go as your primary tools, you will join our backend team to add new features and improve existing services. You will be updating the platform on a daily basis to deliver a reliable software solution for our clients, and improve creative production workflows.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate on designing and building APIs and services
  • Testing and deploying those services using DevOps principles
  • Monitoring and optimising the performance of services

If you have outstanding programming skills and a great passion for developing beautiful, innovative applications, then this role might be for you.

About you

  • You have a bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field

  • You’ve ideally got 3+ years of experience in a role building, designing and maintaining backend APIs and services
  • You’re familiar with internet networking fundamentals and modern network protocols
  • You have experience with software architecture design in a distributed context
  • You’re eager to learn, ask questions, give and receive feedback, and develop yourself
  • You’re a proactive problem-solver who cares about users and what they need from our platform
  • You like exploring and leveraging new technology, standards, and protocols as they emerge
  • You’re a team player, able to collaborate on projects with a deadline
  • You’re proficient in English, and are able to communicate on a professional level to provide clear updates on the development of projects with our international team
  • Experience working at a software company and have an understanding of media formats and video processing, is a “nice-to-have”
  • You are eligible to work in the Netherlands

Essential skills:

  • A good understanding of Test, Behavior and Domain Driven Development
  • Proficient in building and maintaining testable software and (REST)APIs
  • An understanding of observability concepts like metrics, traces and logs
  • Understanding of protocols like HTTP, TLS, TCP, UDP, DNS
  • Knowledge of serialization formats like JSON, Yaml and Protocol Buffers
  • A good working knowledge of version control systems and services like git, GitHub and GitLab
  • Familiarity with containerized applications and containers in general
  • Working knowledge of Go, Python and Bash
  • A good understanding of Continuous Integration systems like GitLab CI

Preferred skills:

  • A basic understanding of what it means to work with DevOps principles

  • Experience with Remote Procedure Call frameworks like gRPC
  • Experience with Continuous Deployment
  • Experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems
  • Experience with distributed tracing and metrics using systems like Prometheus, Grafana and Jaeger
  • A good working knowledge of linux systems
